Camden Civic Centre - About us The Camden Civic Centre is owned and operated by the Council of Camden. It has grown to become the heart of community, civic and cultural celebrations in Camden. The Camden Civic Centre is available for private function bookings or community events. The Honourable Alderman P.T.Anderson M.P. opened the upper level of the centre on the 17th of April 1982 to fulfill the demand for a multipurpose function facility for the local community. The upper level contains The Macarthur Room and the Ferguson Gallery. In 2001 the area under the centre was renovated, creating two additional function rooms, a kitchen and amenities. The Mayor of Camden, Eva Campbell, officially opened the lower level on the 2nd of May 2001. This area is known as the Undercroft, and contains the Training Room and the Community Hall. Camden Civic Centre also presents a calendar of events for the community each year including concerts, school holiday entertainment, workshops, bridal exhibitions, the Camden Art Prize, annual Antique Fair and much more! Camden Civic Centre's website went online on the 5th of June 2003 at 11am AEST. |

Access Features Both the Upper Level and the Undercroft have disabled access and toilet facilities. The centre has disabled parking provisions and a easy access drop-off point. Due to community feedback, our Auditoriums sound system now features a hearing loop system enabling the use of special headsets for those with hearing difficulties. The Camden Civic Centre has also purchased a lifting platform device to enable wheelchair access to the stage.

Responsible Service of Alcohol The Upper Level of the centre is fully licensed and catered. It includes bar facilities that are operated and managed by staff. The Centre and its staff fully support the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) principles. Camden Civic Centre is also a partner in the Camden Liquor Accord. A set of guidelines that aims to standardise the promotion, awareness and sale of alcohol in the township of Camden. Currently under trial is a Sober Driver promotion. At pre-determined functions
the designated driver is provided with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. |

Environmental Sustainability The Council of Camden is renowned for its environmental awareness and award winning initiatives. Naturally enough, Camden Civic Centre contributes by actively recycling office paper, glass bottles, aluminium cans and cardboard boxes. Suitable food scraps are used in worm farms or are composted. The centre conserves our most precious natural resource, water, by installing timed irrigation systems in its garden network that are active after dusk and before dawn when evaporation levels are at their lowest. We also have grease traps fitted to all our kitchen sinks preventing oils entering our waterways and unique aquatic ecosystems. Future possibilities include water tank installation and solar power. |
